Path of Titans tends to be a game best played with friends - dinosaur or otherwise. Whilst a public server can be fun with the different dinosaurs you may encounter and with different playstyles, sometimes it's best to leave your world to just the people you trust - and we do this by locking the server behind a password. Doing so means that nobody can join the server unless they have the password, even if they've previously played on the server before!

How to...

The process of adding a password to the server is actually quite a simple process, and involves editing the Game.ini file (please note that this process requires your server to be Stopped, not running):

  1. Login to your Game Server Instance - you can find the URL for this on your client area product page for your Path of Titans product under Application URL - the details for login will have been included in the provisioning email you were sent when you ordered your server
  2. Once logged in, head to the File Manager menu on the left side to access your files (or SFTP into the instance, if you prefer)
  3. Navigate to the PathOfTitans > Saved > Config > LinuxServer folder, right click on the Game.ini file, and click Edit
  4. Within this file, you may add the following line underneath the ServerName field (realistically it can be placed anywhere, but we find this is the most usual place to put it):

    [/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]
    ServerMap=Panjura
    ServerName=TestServer
    ServerPassword=Password1234

    Where "Password1234" is whatever password you wish to have on the server

  5. Once you have finished editing the Game.ini file - press the Save button at the top right of the File Manager, and head back to the Status page (homepage for the instance) - here you can start your server up, now with a new password!
