More often than not Squad servers will need a little privacy - be that for an event, a special training server, or just to keep the riff-raff out. Setting up a password within a Squad server is relatively simple, though it is not enabled by default. Please note that licensed servers may not at any time password-protect their server - to do so is a violation of the licensing agreement - you must remove your license whilst the server is password protected, which will place it in the Custom Browser.

How to...

If you're a Southnode customer this becomes really easy:

  1. Login to your Game Server instance, and go to the File Manager menu
  2. Within your File Manager, navigate to the SquadGame/ServerConfig folder, and edit the Server.cfg file
  3. Within this file, add the following lines to the bottom of the file (or wherever you wish, so long as they are on their own lines)

    // Optional, set the password for a server (works with "double quotes" as well, but are not needed)
    ServerPassword=password
  4. With the above line, note that the password set after the ServerPassword= key is the password that will be required to enter the server. Save the file.
  5. Restart your server - it will now have a password set for it to join.
